on the ipod nano you can see how much space music, movies, ect. are taking up (even visually). Is there any way you can do this on an ipod touch? If you go to settings>general>about all you can see is the number of music files and movies and stuff there are

You would probably have to download something or play around in the settings but i dont think so.

    Your best bet is Itunes.

As others have said, it is displayed in iTunes but not on the actual iPod itself. Which generation Nano are you referring to that has this feature?

The OP is right about the 3rd generation being able to show what is taking how much space up.
    I upgraded from a 3rd Gen Silver Nano 4GB.

What's the purpose of it though? Why do you need to know what you have on the ipod?

If I want to know I connect it to the pc.

Honestly curious why this function would be needed other than in a "I have x amount of songs, y amount of videos on my ipod right now" type conversations.
