My brother got a call from someone at Telstra asking if his iPhone was jailbroken and luckily he said no although it is jailbroken, They then proceeded to tell him that they might cancel his plan on the account that it may be jailbroken. I know in the US jailbreaking has been declared legal but I think it might be different here in Australia.

Does anyone know if they are allowed to cancel my brothers plan on the account that they think its jailbroken?

Any thoughts on this would be great to here because he is a bit concerned...

    No.
They are not allowed to do that, because it is your brother's device, is it not?
And he can do whatever the hell he wants to do with it, and they shouldn't deny him service.

In the case that they do cancel his service, you do some math.

Well, i think you can figure that one out.

Probably some smart alec playing what he thought was a joke! AFAIK Telstra only call you to sell you more plans/products...I doubt they would call and ask q's about JB iphones.

I'm pretty sure they could if they really wanted to.

There must be a "We can kick you off whenever the heck we feel like it." clause.
