My ipod has some dirt beneath the screen which cannot be removed without disassembly. I was wondering though whether the apple store can clean it under my warranty if I restore it to vanilla OS 3.0? It has to be instore because I am only there for a few hours.

I don't think they would. But you never know. I would just bring it to them and explain to them what needs to be done, and ask if there's anything they can do. If not, you may just have to learn to deal with it I guess, or look at some guides on youtube or any where else on how to disassemble it correctly. Good luck.

ok, I didn't want to disassmble it because it really isn't that much of a problem, but I thought since it's still under warranty I might as well fix it if I can.

    Maybe it is "dead pixels"?

I had that, brand new out-of-the-box. The link for the fix is here.

I know it isn't a stuck pixel because it exists even when the screen is off and because of the shape.
