    umm theres a way to maunally put your ipod into DFU mode i used it to downgrade back to 1.1.4. its weird but it worked for me i gotta find it first.

    ok found it do this exactyly it should work i had to do it twice lol and your screen im pretty sure it should be still blank but u should get a ballon on the bottom right if ur on windows saying DFU or something good luck.

    DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode is not the same as restore mode. DFU mode bypasses the current OS installed and allows you to upgrade or downgrade your OS. If you are getting errors trying to restore in iTunes, DFU mode is very likely for you.

    This is how to achieve DFU mode. You can do it on every phone:

    * Attach the phone to the pc
    * Turn the phone off
    * Hold power and home together for *exactly* 10 seconds
    * Release power but keep holding home until the pc beeps as a USB device is recognized.
    * At no point will the display come on. Now your restore should work.

    Also im pretty sure u can't brick your ipod just by the software so chill out lol.

    Apple has a section for error (6) here.

    Also, when entering DFU mode you want to hold the home button for a LOOOONG time.

    Try shutting off the ipod and then hold the home button and plug it in. Keep holding the home button until itunes recognizes it.

    if you really think its bricked you are a total noob restore to 1.1.4(restart your computer first)
