I want to activate my iPhone 3G (Im using it as an iPod now). So I was wondering if I could use my dads 3GS sim card to do it. Could I shut off his iPhone, then take out the sim card and place it in mine and activate it then put it back in his? And will there be any data charges or anything?

Your iPhone won't work (as a phone) without a SIM, activated or not.

yeah, that idea of yours will work. it just gets past that lousy Slide for Emergency screen. but everything (excluding phone and messages) will work.
