I just purchased the 3.0 FW and wondering if i could use it to upgrade my friends' ipods. Yes, multiple ipods.

And if I can, any idea how many I could help update?

    thanks guys!

You can't unless they have your account also, which would delete everything on their ipod and put all your crap onto their ipod. I don't know, I know it is like this for apps. I also assume Apple wouldn't be that dumb.

    I think i do...

actually, i think they are "tied" to my account since i synch about three ipods to this same computer i'm using...

    weird eh?

I bet no one has tried that before, eh?

I'll update you guys if it works, 'coz that "purhased" icon is stuck in my itunes anyway, i bet it just sits there ready to update another? hehe

coz i view it like this: What if you have two ipods? or an ipod AND an iphone?

or if you have two ipods, you buy 3.0 twice?

My husband and I share one iTunes account and each have an iPod. I bought 3.0 on his computer when I updated his iPod, and it showed up as "already purchased" on my computer.

So yes, if all iPods are tied to the same account, you only need to purchase the firmware once.

    Yes, this is true.

But I can only assume his friends sync to their own they computer, but apparently they are sync to the same computer with the same account.
