I sshed into my ipod and copied gpsphone.app and categories.app onto my computer. My question is, after upgrading to 3.0 can I use iphonebrowser or totalcommander to put those apps back onto to my ipod and have them be functional?

No, updating gets rid of all jailbroken apps, and you can access the root with unjailbroken ipods.

that would make sense then haha. So after the jailbreak comes out I would be able to do that though? Because i heard cydia is not yet functional on 3.0

    Cydia works perfectly on 3.0.

    No. Two reasons.

-iPhoneBrowser uses SSH through USB. If you install 3.0, you're using iTunes 8.2, which means no SSH.

-3.0 isn't jailbroken yet, which means no root access
