Is it possible to turn an app downloaded from the appstore into a system app like all the default ios apps?

Default as it in can't be deleted? There is a way to, you'd have to extract the .app file out of the ipa. Then put it in the /applications/ folder. It'll show up like a stock app. Corners may not be cropped though, so you may want to do that one yourself.

Do this, do you mean a stock app so that it will get put onto your device when it is restored?

That's not possible unless you edit the restore firmware file...

No just so the device recognizes it as a default app. Would I have to extract the ipa or would the .app from the device do?

What do you mean recognize it as a default app? Like a default web browser type of thing, or like an app that comes with the iDevice. The only thing special about apps that come with the iDevice is that they can't be deleted.

If you mean replacing Safari with Opera Mini there are Cydia tweaks to accomplish this.

No basically I am a fussy themer and I dislike how appstore apps always look slightly different. Let me try to explain. Youtube is a stock app ie its in a different folder as appstore apps and behaves differently in relation to icon masks. I want to take an app such as Doodle Jump, and make it behave in the same way.

The thing that confuses me is apps like youtube have one .app folder with everything inside. Appstore apps have the .app inside another folder.

You can make a different icon and name it "DoodleJump"
