I want to open and view; files(.pdf), video(.flv,.avi), and music (.mp3,flac, ect.), off of a hard drive on my windows home network. Basically i just want to use the ipod as a player/viewer and my computer as a storage/server. I don't want to use itunes or any other program on my computer. I just want something that makes my ipod work as I stated above.

Get Air Video, but ur pc has to be pretty beefy though to handle the encoding/transcoding.

That will work for the video portion.

Thanks Dragonfire but I do not want to install software on my server. I just want the ipod to have the appropriate player/viewer installed and fetch the files I want to see/use. I even want to be able to do it without jailbreak and with one all-inclusive app. Also, I want this app to be free.
VLC media player for the ipod. With pdf support

    you'll eventually want iTunes

it's been a few months and I'm starting to appreciate iTunes

I still feel like it's more of a virus than a real tool, but it does have some bright points

if you want to view books/text get STANZA, it's fantastic

as mentioned above, AIR VIDEO is outstanding for streaming video. I honestly can't say enough good things about it

as for the music, I'd just load it onto the ipod
I honestly can't see why not to do that

Tikker I have 300+GB of music and 400+GB of video and more books than I could read. I just want to access them, at will, from anywhere in my house.
