Is it possible? I want to know because when iPhone OS 3.0 comes out I dont think I'll want to remove the old OS completely until I know how the JB apps react rather than upgrade and end up downgrading again.

it is risky and it is know that it CAN brick your device and it also involves command line work so id just wait for the apps to be ported.

I believe this isn't possible. Although you could just wait a month or two because developers are already starting to work on the 3.0 jailbreak apps. If you wait you will end up having a 3.0 jailbroken with your favorite jailbreak apps (hopefully)

Not even from DFU mode? IF there is that much of a risk or if I upgrade then is it possible to backup the NAND before I do so, to make restoration as painless as possible?
