I have heard many different answers from different threads and my question is:
If i have to take my jailbroken ipod to the apple store for some reason, can apple tell if i jailbroke it even if i restore? (Unteathered 2nd gen)

No, they can't. Just do a complete restore, set carrier name to default, and leave no trace of a jailbroken device.

restoring isn't against their policy, they don't care if you restore or not.

Of course they can. If your iPod/iPhone shows up with no media, no apps, default screen, etc. How can they NOT tell its been restored?

But there is a sign of a Restore. And one of the main reasons (But not the only reason) why one would NEED to restore, is because of Jailbreaking.

They can't deny you a replacement because you restored, though.

Is he looking to get a replacement? If there is nothing wrong with the hardware or software, why should Apple replace or fix it?
