Can Apple find out if you have jailbroken even if you DFU + Restore? My worst fear is to take it back to the Apple store to only hear they can't help me because I hacked it, my mom would kill me!

Probably put DFU restores erase most data off of it.

    You'll be fine.

They do have a device that can check. But they really have to think you jailbroke, and have to be kind of a jerk.

Just make sure not to use a backup, because the iTunes backups include Springboard strings, which can include numerical battery and hidden apps

DFU erases everything because it is always a last resort method. At the Apple Store, they use DFU to restore to 2.0 for me.

they can't find out. since DFU completely put every aspect of your ipod back into a factory setting, they can't do anything to find out..

if they had like an internal change log that was unaffected by DFU, and then they could run a diagnostics check, check that log, and see if u jailbroken, i'd be very surprised, but.. they don't.. at least not to our knowledge. so i wouldn't worry.. DFU+restore FTW

My guess is they just turn it on and see if there's a cydia or installer icon on it.

thats y u DFU Restore... cause then thats all gone...

but...! you could decide to "trick" apple, by finding the Cydia icon, and saving the picture as a webapp to ur springboard... and naming it Cydia... do like what the fakers did when the whole hype about the 2G jailbreak was just starting... lol that'd b funny.. but no.. they shouldn't b able to find it.. End of discussion.

    i think you'll be fine...

unless they go to your house, and check whether you've got any jailbreaking tools...

    but that might not happen
