Why do people go around deleting their Preferences apps? ._.

As said it is aganist the rules, but there is something called private messaging, where the exchange of ideas on how to get this can occur without the heavy eye of the mods.

    Not suggesting anything, just saying

... yeah, there's nothing like spamming people with "I NEED PREFERENCES NAO" to make friends. Oh, and by the way, that's STILL against the rules of the forum regarding privacy, as is suggesting that.

For the record, if you're the type of person who goes around deleting their Preferences.app (which requires using SSH to do, as you can't do it with the hold-delete feature), you really ought to be backing up the iPod's files before mucking around with the operating system. A Restore will fix that, though - it'll recopy the file into there, even if you have to jailbreak again.

Sorry, I can't give it to you, but there is a way to retrieve it:
1: Find your custom firmware 2.2
2: Change the extension from ".ipsw to ".zip"
3: Open up the .zip file
4: In there, there are two ".dmg" files.
    5: Open up "018-4055-127.dmg"
6: Open up the folder (actually a shortcut to a folder) "Applications"
    7: Inside there is a "Preferences.app"
8: SSH "Preferences.app" into your "Applications" folder

Long directions, but it works, and helps a lot!

Remember that the above instructions need a Mac to access the DMG image file, before asking 'HOW DO I DO THIS, HELP NAO PLZ!!!'. If you don't have a Mac, I'd probably suggest restoring and jailbreaking, since if the Preferences.app file was deleted, who knows what other things got trashed?
