Can 8 GB "3rd Gen" (MC Model) run 4.0?

Discussion in 'iPod touch' started by deleted account, Apr 14, 2010.

  1. okay, so does the 8 GB "3G" (MC Model) have the updated processor and memory? Because I wanna be able to utilize multitasking on iPhone OS 4.0 when it comes out...

    8GB 3G = 8GB 2G.
    They're identical.

Technically, yes. The 8GB model CAN run 4.0, but at a loss of some newer features

    ie. Multitasking

Im sure that the multi-tasking app will be unlocked to work fine with the 2nd gens (and the 8gb 3rd gens)...you will just have to jailbreak first.

I remember when Apple claimed the original iPhone didn't have the hardware capabilities to send MMS messages; that was soon fixed by the jailbreaker's.
Also, my 8gb runs multi-tasking perfectly with pro-switcher at the moment...unless Apple's version is a massive resource hog (in which case who would want it anyway?), i can't see where a problem would be.

No, apple just wants to have ALL the apps running smooth while multitasking with loads of apps.

Apple multitasking is pretty interesting and taking less memory than JB multitasking.

So is it recommended to get a 32GB/64GB 3G iPod Touch if you want to upgrade to OS 4.0 and use all the functions?

Btw, is the 16GB iPod Touch also a 3G model?
  9. aww...why would they call it 3rd gen if it has the same hardware as 2nd. So basically the 8 GB 3rd gen is actually worse than the 2nd, because it has updated bootrom but no updated processor...

Well, it depends on you if it's worth it or not. And there is no 16gb 3G model. There is 8gb 3G (which has 2G hardware), and the 32/64gb models.
