I got my iPhone 4 today, and updated it to 4.0.1. I noticed the camera would sometime close its shutter, and wouldn't open it again - even if I closed all the apps on the multitasking-menu(including the camera). It would however work properly if I restarted the phone, which leads me to believe that it's a software-issue..

I've tried restoring the phone to 4.0-firmware, but everytime I try, iTunes just says "3194 Error".

I know that downgrading probably won't solve anything, but I might aswell give it a shot... Does anyone know how to make the error go away?

It might be a software issue like you said. But how did you update to 4.0.1 today ? 4.0.2 has already been released, and Apple doesn't let you update to a lower version.

You can't make that error go away, if you update to a newer firmware there is NO way to downgrade, except if Cydia kept your SHSH for 4.0 (I doubt it because you bought it today)
