So I wake up this morning, open up Cydia and see that there's a new app called 'Camera Mod for 3G' (it enables auto-focus for the 3G) - well, so it says.

I go ahead and install it. It requires a reboot of my iPhone. My phone starts back up. I go to camera to check it out, and it just doesn't start up! It opens, then crashes back to springboard. My Photos don't work either!

I uninstalled it, and nothing. Both of the apps still don't work. Anyone have any advice?

    Thanks

If there was a package called "Free memory upgrade" that claimed to double your 8GB iPhone to a 16GB or a 16GB to a 32GB, would you try that one too?

Lol. anyway, a simple DFU+Shift+Restore should do the trick. If you want your pictures ssh and find them ( havent done ssh in while so cant tell you exactly where they are)

No. Because that sounds ridiculous. 'Camera mod for 3G', on the other hand, does not.

If you're not going to contribute to the solution, no contribution is necessary.
I really don't want to do a complete restore

. Is there no way, I can SSH and set some permissions or something? Surely there's an easier way to solve this. Thanks for the suggestion.

P.s. I know where the pictures are anyway, thanks

Because the mod is for 3.1, anyone trying on 3.0 it'll just f*** up your sh*t. A bunch of people over at MMi forum went thru the same sh*t. And I guess the repo got taken down too.

how could you get an app to "help focus your camera" when the camera has a fixed focus lens? :S.. this is why its good that apple have to approve for every app in submission before adding to the store. but with cydia, anything is possible..

Wasn't there someone, (forgot their name), who had actually managed to do this? There was a video on YouTube about this, and yeah, someone was working on doing it on an iPhone 3G.
