Got my iPhone on Friday(the highlight of my year so far lol, jokes)

However only the cable that came with it charges it.
The cable I use to charge my iPod Touch 1g lets me think it charging, changes the battery logos and what not but it doesn’t actually go up.

I have Numeric battery to test this and it’s just going down.

    ...can i haz info plz?

I can use my old 1G iPod Touch and 5G iPod cables to charge my iPhone no problems. Are you using USB or a power socket?

Does your charger have a green dot on it? Apple replaced the chargers in the 3g cause they were burning up iphones. If your charger does not have a green dot on it, go back to the store and ask for one. they are supposed to give you a replacement wall charger.....wait u said you were charging with usb.... Maybe try a different port, or use the wall charger....

they've changed the resistance you need in the iPhone 3G for some strange reason and the theres somthing in the new cable that drops the data +&- down to 2.8v (i think) from the original 3.3v.
Though i didnt realise it would be a problem using an old cable? i thought it would only be if you used a new cable on an old iPod as it wouldnt give enough power?
