Now it has been more than a month that my son owns an iTouch, I have a better idea about if iPod Touch appropriate for kids, and pros&cons of buying an iPod Touch:

    Pros:
    - Great video playback device: With the iPhone TV connector, we play movies primarily from the iPod Touch now. It is even more convenient than our DVD player, Sony Playstation, or even DVR. No more searching for CDs, waiting for CD player to load, or searching for the remote control.

    Cons:
Iphone-parent-notpleased Misplacing iTouch: Especially at the beginning, he misplaced the iTouch countless times. Because it is not an iPhone, you can’t call to find it. Our solution was to tell my son place the iTouch next to the TV, where the iPhone TV connector is. He still puts it to other places, but about 90% of the time I can find it next to the TV.

Do you have any other pros and cons that you can suggest? How about for older kids, kindergarten'ers, teens?

Your kids have an ipod touch at 3 years old.
why couldnt my parents give me things like that when i was 3? *sigh*
Honestly if i was 3 today and my parents had the kind of money they have now, i would probably have like 4 iphones by the age of 6! but then you get older and cant expect everything from your parents and eventually get a job.

Not kindygardeners! not three-year-olds! tweens and up i would say. it is a very expensive device and wouldn't recommend it for a kid!

iPod's aren't intended for kids, so i wouldn't recommended at such early age, but then again its your choice.

if the kid sucks on it like a pacifier it would break, f he dropped it it would break, if he did anything to it it would break, his candy covered hands would mess up the screen. also easily lost.

    pros: $300 pacifier

My 6 year old cousin has an iPhone, he got it when he was 5, and there seems no problem. I know he's older but it seems that kids are even more tech savvy now

? Are you talking about porn? Just because you have access to porn doesn't mean your going to view it. Besides good parenting should help prevent kids from viewing it.

The kid is 3 years old, how the hell are you suppose to teach him/her the value of money. Make them clean the house, do the laundry, and changer his/her younger siblings diaper.

I wouldn't give my child an iPod Touch until they where 12, at least.

seriously mam you have some issues and you need to teach your child that he/she is not going to get whatever it wants. or else your gonna be running into some big money problems when he/she gets older

Spending $200+ on a toy for a 3yo?? You must do really well for you not to care if it breaks. Ipods and cell phones are something a child shoudl earn, not just be given to them. YOu start giving things like that to them now, their gonna expect twice as much later, perhaps a car at 14 or 15. But if you can afford expensive adult toys for your kids then thats your decision.
