So, I'm buying an iPod touch 3G 32GB soon and plan on jailbreaking it quite short after it. I just read this on theiphonewiki.

    From: http://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Jailbreak_iPhone2,1_/_iPod3,1

And after a quick look in the online Apple Store, I now know that they only sell MC-models. But, if I am going to my local Apple Store, could I just ask for a MB-model instead of a MC-model?

Hmm, I guess you could ask, but I don't think they will have. But anyways, a tethered jailbreak isn't that bad

Well, I got my iPod touch 2G on November 17th 2008 (serial number says produced in week 42), and a week later a friend bought an iPod touch 1G at the same store.
He actually asked the salesman what would be best for him to buy, and the salesman said that he didn't need the extra features (he obviously wanted to sell all the old ones).
So he bought the 1G 8GB for the same price as my 2G 8GB!
More weirdly, he asked me to jailbreak it, and I saw it was produced in late Januari (2008)

So I guess they will have them. Asking for it is a little weird though, "Hey, I am looking for an iPod touch 3rd generation... with a model-number starting with MB..."

An iPod with model number MB is 2nd generation. Why would you want another?

Unless you actually turn off your iPod, having a tethered jailbreak isn't at all. My 2g use to be tethered when it first came out and there was no difference at all.

Because they're both the same. The mc 8gb And the mb 8gig.

    Oh.
I actually thought that it's like with the iPhone 3G, one does jailbreak, some other, slightly newer doesn't.

Guess I'll just go with a 3rd gen MC 32GB.

    Tethered is just fine...
I never turn off my iPod. There is no reason to turn it off

agreed with jetf and chrisl. At first i was so pissed it was tethered, then i gave it a try. One thing i can say about it: I cant expect more, its awsome.
