    I'm going to NYC soon, and possibly San Fransisco soon.
    By all means, the iPhone 4 will by out by then.
    But assuming there is a carrier unlock for it by then;

    If I go to an Apple store, purchase and iPhone, will I be able to take it home to Sweden without signing a contract?
    I heard that you do not have to sign a contract until you're going to activate your phone.

    So would it be possible for me to just unlock it when it wants me to activate it? without signing an at&t contract...

    If you want to buy it without a contract, you'll be paying a significant amount more.

    You'll just have to tell them you want to buy one without a contract.

    I was thinking about telling them that I want to buy it with a contract, but never sign it.

    My question is, do you sign the contract at the store or when activiating in iTunes?
    Because if you do it when you activate it in iTunes, I could just ignore signing the contract and unlock it, right?

    All you have to do is ask them for a buy out model. They cost 500 for the 16 gb one. I think. Someone correct me if Im wrong tho. As for your question you can hacktivate it when a jb comes out and then activate it.

    You didn't have to be a douche about it.
    This is just something I heard on another forum, that one went to a foreign country, bought a phone and never had to sign a contract.
