I'm thinking of buying a used iphone off someone, but his contract is still active.
He'll charge me extra if I don't want the contract, but I want to know: is the contract linked to the SIM card, the phone, or what?

In other words, can I buy the phone, but leave the contract with him so I can unlock it and use another service (Just want to make sure I'm not being scammed)

Also, when I go to see it, what should I look for to make sure it's not a fake iphone?

If that phone is tied to the contract you better be sure they will release it or you will not be able to activate it.

How would that work? Selling you a phone with his contract tied to it? I would buy it and NOT pay the bill! F*ck it its his contract under his name!

Anyway, the contract is tied to the sim card. So yes you can buy the phone and unlock it to use with your network and your sim card.

If he sells it to you with HIS contract just dont pay the bill!!! Its not in your name and as far as I know there is know way to transfer it to you.

The guy told me he'd sell it to me without a contract, I just wanted to make sure that that was possible.

Also, buying an iphone from rogers/at&t without a contract should cost this, right?
    (iphone+first month+early cancellation)
    200+60+150= 410$

I checked ebay, and most people are selling for ~600... Am I missing something?

LOL! This is what I would do and it would depend on how well i know the guy. If its just some random guy then I probably would and just switch back to my sim before the end of the month and toss his. LOL!

If its someone I know and like then I wouldn't do this.
