    Hey guys,
If I were to buy an iPhone without a contract $600 does that mean I can bring it to T-Mobile? Does buying an iPhone without a contract considered as an Unlocked iPhone? I kind of confused because I never caught on with this on the last iPhone. Let me know... Thanks

I think it means that you choose any contract that you like and are not bound simply to a 2 year contract which you can't back out of. I dunno if you could walk out of the store without activating it, though.

the no-commitment iphones are still locked to AT&T. the only difference is that you don't have a 2 year contract, but you still MUST get the iphone plan to get the phone activated legitly.

i considered getting a 3g but its not worth it. my old 4gb 2.5g model is good enough for me.

The iPhone 3Gs without contract will not be unlocked but will only be available to the supported mobile carrier. Eventually, hackers will probably be able to unlock it though. (Very likely as they always do.) But you would need to unlock it unofficially which can lead to problems in the future.

Just get the old iphone and do what you please with it. I'm not very impressed with my new 3G over my old iPhone.

You might as well get a plan along with the iPhone, its cheaper. Than all you have to do is cancel the plan for about $175. And use it as you please without commient!

the only benefit of buying the phone without a contract is that you are free to terminate your plan at any point without an ETF. at which point you will have a very expensive iPod Touch.

    So..
If I had an American friend, they could get a £300 iPhone with no contract (only latched to AT&T) and then it could easily be Pwned and used with a different SIM...

Is it $600 for the 16GB models? or is that 8gb?
I might have to make an American friend
