I almost have enough money right now to buy an IPT 4G 8GB, but I really could do with the 32GB model. I also really want an iPod Touch 4G for Game Centre and the much better hardware, display and performance. But if I want the 32GB model I would have to wait 'til Xmas to get one. Any ideas as to what I should do?

EDIT: Now I've looked at it, the iPod Nano seems like a very good replacement for my Shuffle 2G (I admit I am greedy). Should I just get the 32GB IPT or the 8GB IPT and the iPod Nano?

If you don't have many music or video's than buy the 8GB I am also
buying the 8GB because I have about 50 Apps and I don't want more.

This thing takes 720p video. That's 4.5 GB per hour. Along with music, movies, apps, etc, it will add up quickly. You'll want to wait.

Movies, TV shows and podcasts don't interest me. I just watch them on TV (apart from Podcasts of course). I will use it occasionally for watching Youtube videos but not very often. Also, if I get a IPT at Xmas, will it be on 4.1? Or whatever firmware is available at that time? Because 4.2 might even be out by then and if not then 4.1.4 or something like that.

I would go with the 32GB, $70 more for 4 times the storage space. Also, if you are planning on using the movie recording, the higher capacity would be better, as HD video sucks up a LOT of space.

But if you don't use the camera just like me then 32 GB is
pretty useless because he's not planning to put movies on it.

8gb will be sufficient if you don't keep the movies. songs and games/apps can always be saved on the computer and re-sync'd in if you need them again. I have 32gb but I do keep movies on it.

I have a 8GB iPod Touch and I have 592 songs which takes up 5GB of space for me, so less than 2GB of space (mind that there's 1GB+ taken up for the systems software itself) a couple of apps, say around 16 and a few Cydia installs... 0.88GB left. I'll have to delete some music I have to add more music in soon...

    I recommend a 32GB.
