    this would be a great help because sometimes when you search you dont look at the date, just the content

    I was going to suggest a transitional screen, saying something similar to "The thread you are posting in is XYZ old. Are you sure you want to continue?"

    But from what I've read, modifications like this are being postponed until the next version of vBulletin is released.

    Yeah, I heard that too. vB said the beta would be released sometime in mid November, so hopefully they'll keep their word this time.

    There is nothing wrong with bumping an old thread. To complain that an old thread is bumped for the sake of complaining about it being bumped is a horrible habit to start.

    Clearly, there are instances where bumping an old thread is just plain stupid. This is usually when things hav e changed and the post os no longer relevant. There are also times when bumping old threads is preferred. This case is usually when things such as (for example) a coding tutorial thread is bumped. It'd be stupid to start a new thread to ask questions about an old thread.
