Alright, since I desperately need a new computer, I'm am going to be building a new one from scratch. I'm looking to spend around 1,000 dollars on it, since I want it to be pretty nice. I'm probably going to be updating this asking if these parts are good or if I should get something different.

So, without further ado, what do you think of these motherboards?

    This one:

    Or this one:

And yeah, it's going to be AMD.

@Dunuck Why don't we find out what the user is mainly going to be doing before we go crazy with an i7.......Also buying an Nvidia right now would be regrettable with Fermi cards coming out soon.

Mr. Pudge, what are you mainly going to be using this desktop for? Also do you need a monitor, etc?

no when you use a 64-bit OS, which with all the current technology being built for it should be standard

Woahh, thanks for going through all that for me..looks pretty good.
But I'm looking for a terabyte hard drive. Also, I would rather have 2 4gb ram sticks, instead of 3 2gb.
But 200 dollars over isn't a big deal, I was kind of planning on going a little bit over when I said 1,000.

Well, I was planning on using it for music/videos, and a little bit of gaming..but not a whole lot. I have about 500 to 600 gigs if music and videos, and it's building, but my external is running out of room. If that helps anything at all..

Oh, and when do the Fermi cards come out?

If your not going to be using it for video encoding etc then there is no use for you to get a i7. For gaming and stuff and saving money an AMD Phenom quad would do you fine. Then with that money you could get a couple TB drives.

Then with your 2x4 GB idea then you will be running single channel instead of 2x3 which is triple channel.

Nvidia has been talking about their Fermi cards forever, which they say will be out soon. Plus for the amount of money you have and if you go AMD then you will have enough for a ATI Direct x11 card which no Nvidia card can do now.
