I have never heard of anyone having the bsd root error with winpwn or pwnage tool, only Ziphone. If you did use Ziphone try 2.6b version.

I would suggest a restore. Then let everything sit, shut the computer down, and turn off the iPod. Then, tomorrow just try it again. When I "pwned" my iPod I had to do the same thing, but it finally worked.

Also, make sure you have the latest version of WinPwn, which it seems you do but just to be sure.

@jpga13: I thought the same thing, but it seems he has WinPwn, but anyways make sure you are using the program from here

Have you put the iPod in DFU mode and then done a restore?

    1. Connect the iPod to your computer via USB
    2. Hold down the sleep and home buttons until the screen goes black
    3. Let go of the sleep button but hold the home button
    4. iTunes should show a pop-up and then only give an option to restore
