I posted this in the other thread, but I figured it was important enough to make a new thread.

So if you bricked it (like me) with the tiff, here's how you force a restore. Holy the sleep and home button until your ipod turns off. Keep holding them until the apple logo appears, then release the sleep button, but keep holding the home button. This will force a restore in itunes, your ipod will then completely restore.

thanks for the info, but this is not truly bricking. Bricking is when your iPod is rendered completely unusable. This happened to a lot of PSPs, but as of recent a method of "unbricking" has been released through a special type of battery. I would definitely not expect something like this to ever be released so I would advise that everybody be extremely careful.

Yeah, but this was typed mostly in response to the people running around screaming that the jailbreak bricked their ipods. I know what you mean though, thanks for the correction.

Its because the TIFF exploit only enables root read/write access...

Then you need to load up iPhuc and do:

    ---
    cd etc
    getfile fstab fstab
    ---

Then open the fstab file with an editor (should be in your iPhuc directory) and change "ro" to "rw", save and close it.

Go back to iPhuc and do:

    ---
    putfile fstab
    ---

Trouble is, now theres alot of us stuck at this point with no way to access our music and itunes doesnt recognise the ipod...

I see no point in jailbreaking now. I am going to wait for apps so I can do it all at once.

Thanks, Hazed. Stupid computer finally recognized a file, and got all excited, so it opened the file in DivX player. That's my smart PC, doing the work for me.
Okay, time to redownload and open it with the right tool this time.
