Your device is not, I repeat not, want me to repeat it again? Not bricked.

Continue to retry to put it in DFU mode.

    1. Hold down home and power for 10 seconds.
    2. After 10 seconds, release the power button.
    3. Continue holding the home button for 8 more seconds.

You should be in DFU mode. Then you can continue with the process.

Unplug, plug back in, hold home and power for 10 scs, then just home for another 7-8 secs and it will be recognized

    Well screw you sideways.
To get into DFU, hold both Home+Power for approximately 10 seconds, or untill the USB device connection sound. Then let go of Power and hole Home for about 10 more seconds untill you hear the USB connection sound. you should be in DFU now. If not....

u can also plug it in, hold the home button for 5 seconds, then press and hold the power button along with the home button for 10 seconds, then release the power button (while still holding the home button) until ur computer recognizes it

    it always works.....

ps- use the computer clock to keep the right amount of time and you can't go wrong, ;p

10 seconds might be overdoing it, try 7, but time it.

Are you on 10.5.6? I think there was an issue with DFU mode and 10.5.6.
