Hello guys,I'm interested in buying an iTouch within the next few weeks,so with that of course i plan on Jailbreaking/Untethered it,But i have a few questions so bear with me.By the way won't ask what can i do with an unlocked iTouch(google told me)

1.Is it called Jailbreak or Untethered?

    2. I know that the word "Bricked" is thrown around,If i have a software defect whisht unlocking, could i recover my iPod?

    3.Are all Firmwares Hackable?

4.And finally, what is the chances of something going wrong when i Unlock it.

    Thanks for your time.

    -Jack.

    1. It is called Jailbreak. (untethered describes a jailbreak that can boot without the need of a computer)

    2. It is impossible to brick your ipod just by jailbreaking. you can ALWAYS do a DFU mode restore in iTunes

    3. All of the official firmware (1.1.1-2.2.1) are hackable. The 3.0 beta firmware has been jailbroken but the jailbreak has not been released

    4. As long as you follow directions, you will probably have no problems

    -Good Luck!

    1. The Jailbreak is untethered... So it's called Jailbreak.

    2. Yes, just put it in DFU and restore via iTunes.

    3. Yes.

    4. You have a 1:100 chance of something going wrong, but a 1:1,000,000 chance of it actually being 'bricked'.

It's okay; the latest 2nd Gen jailbreak is untethered.

A heads up: start calling it an iPod touch. You'll get flamed hard if you call it an iTouch.

Tethered Jailbreak: The only way you will be able to boot your iPod is when it's connected to a computer.

Semi-Tethered Jailbreak:When you iPod is jailbroken in a Semi-Tethered state it can be booted up without a computer but It would be in a normal state but not a jailbroken state. But when your in normal mode you can still play your Apps, Music, videos, ect....

Untethered Jailbreak:You can boot you iPod into a jailbroken state without a computer.
