    Hi,

I just bought my iPhone 3G and am willing to jailbreak it. I have an iPod Touch 1G since 1.1.1 days, so I am very familiar with jailbreaking. What I am not so familiar with, however, is what to do before jailbreaking the 3G. I have heard of the iBSS and iBEC files and how to retrieve them. Is there anything else I am missing? And could anyone provide me with the easiest way to retrieve those files as well?

    Thanks

The iBEC and iBSS files are the files that you have to recover to assure your 3G can be jailbroken for life!

That is what I need to figure out...

I jailbreak my GS with purplera1n and ran into no difficulties. I would suggest simply doing that.

follow those instructions NOW, NO JOKES, NO LIES, NO FUNNIES

seriously, as soon as Apple updates their firmware (any time now) you'll never be able to jailbreak again unless a new iBoot exploit is found (which could take months)
