Bought 16GB ipod touch but only have 14.94 GB?

    I just bought a second gernation ipod touch a 16GB one and when I went on itunes the little bar that shows up is only 14.94GB of free space. Why is that If I got a 16GB ipod?

    it has that but the software brings it down to 14.94 so its normal thats what everyone else has

    All formatted hard drives have less space available to the user than the actual space of the drive itself.

    its teh firmware it take up that much space. every device u get isn;t they exact amout as it clames. look at ur comps hdd for instance.

    Dude you're lucky. Mine only has 14.52 GB. You got 400 extra MB. It might be because you're on a lower firmware though. 2.1 takes up a bit less than 2.2.

    it's because the companies consider a gig as 1000 megabytes but the computer reads it like it actually is as 1024 megabytes so it will read a little bit less on the computer. and a firmware that is about 200 megs doesn't take up 2 gigs of space.

    yeah its like when u have a 160gb hd and its only 149gb -.-
