did a search but didnt see anything like this...

so i installed boss prefs the other day..
    used it a while..
    pretty neat app..

then i saw an update for it. cool. updated.
then found that my battery is running down real fast.

could it be it is not turning off ssh properly? ( i read somewhere it will eat up my batt )

that was the only thing that i could think of .

any guys facing this problem ?

    ps:
no offence to the app creator.
    love u developers lots!

    thanks.

Haven't installed it.. what's its proposed functionality?

Do you have "Services" installed with SSH off? Or is this program supposed to control SSH on/off?

    It's probably something else...

For the poster above, Bossprefs gathers service, customize, settings, and Smbprefs all under one icon. It's better than services, that's for sure and you don't have to use desktop space for 4 different icons anymore.

For me its the other way round. It definitely deactivates SSH, but isn't able to reactivate it afterwards. Do I need some kind of "special" SSH app to make it work?

Just so i'm understanding you correctly, it puts all of these apps under one icon. Is it a launcher with those 4 apps inside or is it one entirely consolidated program that does everything that the 4 do in one app? Thanks for clarification.

i haven't seen it in installer yet.. hmm..

If you've installed Boss Tools, It's under the same installer source.

This helps like the others have said, that it takes the "functionality" of the other applications, and puts into one spot.

However the best way to save battery life is to turn off WIFI. SSH is not necessarily running, UNLESS you are SFTP'd into your IPOD.

    my 2 cents

Haven't installed Boss Tools.. i looked under All Packages and didn't see it..I have the iPod Touch Fans repository source set up and the following sources:
    -AppTapp Official
    -Apple's Repository
    -Conceited Software
    -Ste Packaging
    -Ragnorok161 Source
    -iPod Touch Fans
    -MTL Repository
    -R4m0n Repository
    -Conceited Software Beta

    am i missing a source?

But as for SSH, i noticed an increase in battery life after d/ling Services and turning SSH off.. it runs your battery down because it's constantly looking at port 22 for incoming connections. You're right too, though, turning WiFi off helps battery life some more, but if you're assuming that Wifi is on all the time.. leaving SSH off keeps battery life normal while SSH on depletes it quite drastically. also my $.02

Yeah I think BossPrefs is in this source:

    sleepers.net/iphonerepo

    It's either that or;

    sleepers.net/~iphonerepo

One of those...Can't really tell cause the sources list in the iPod Touch Application section of this forum says its the first one...But on my iPod Touch it says its the one with ~...So try both.

The source for Boss Tools is....

    markmon.mine.nu:90/iphone/repo/repo.plist

    OR

sleepers.net/iphonerepo (<- this is the same but is on a slower connection to the Inet)
