Last night I jailbroke again, for the first time in ages.

Redsn0w worked a charm, and I was Jailbroken in around 5 minutes.
Before I did anything, I wanted SBSettings, then Winterboard. I installed SBSettings, and then got to the 'Reboot Device' screen in Cydia.
After powering off, it went straight into a boot loop.
I'm on a 2G (MB) running 3.1.2. I DFU'd out of it, and everything's fine now, but could anyone explain why that happened? It could've been the simultaneous installation of MobileSubstrate, or something else. I'd just like to know before I have to go through the whole restore & ersync thing again.

    Thx.

Ahh, this happend to me, only with Backgrounder. I noticed that if you install Winterboard first, and nothing else(besides its dependencies) it will work.

    It went exactly like this:
    • Jailbreak
    • Open Cydia
    • Install SBSettings
    • Tap "Reboot Device"
    • Apple Logo for 7 mins+
    • DFU mode, restore.

I really want SBSettings, Winterboard, Backgrounder etc, but don't want to waste an evening trying to restore again.

But I got the loop after installing SBSettings, not Winterboard.

It could've been my guess is that it was Mobilesubstrate. I might try that on its own first.

I did. I've seen people saying it caused trouble before.

And BTW, I'm in no rush to JB again, I was bored and wanted to shake things up a little.

When it was stuck on the Apple Boot logo, have you tried to force reboot it? I remembered this happened to me, I just left it there, went to the mall for an 1 and a half and when I came back it was normal.
