I had an old boom box and im working on turning it into a ipod touch dock.
Currently i have it playing music via the headphone jack. Now i want it to charge but i dont want to have a seprate cable coming out. I have a 12v 1000ma source in the boom box that i can use. But i don't know if i can use it as is or if i have to step the voltage down to 5v and do something special with the usb plug.

    Thanks in advance,

You could probably mod a female USB adaptor to some power, and give it a shot...
