Screenshots, or don't believe. Also, what do you mean by "went to upload it into the ipod...".

i dont care if you believe me or not, im going to apple tomorrow and going to try and get a new one. i dont want them to try and fix this one. i dont want a broken ipod.

here is exactly what i did:

-saw there was a new update with iphone apps from apple went :O
-went to download 1.1.3 from itnues
-download was done in 8 minutes or so
-then it went to instal the update to my ipod
    -got "unknown error 1603"
-was then forced to restore my ipod
-while trying to restore got same error
-now when i turn it on i get the screen showing it to connect to itunes

there for my ipod = bricked.

So plug it into iTunes. If that doesn't work, try force restoring again, and again until it works.

my ipod touch was also stuck in the restore state for a while, until i realized that all my restore images were missing from itunes. (maybe the new 7.6 deleted everything? hmmmm)

to restore from this state: you need to search the web for an old firmware, and download it, and use it as your restore image. (press shift, then click the restore button, and select the file you want to restore.)

i downloaded a 1.1.1 image from touchdev, and was able to restore mine that way. i am still unable to upgrade to the 1.1.3.

Or put the iPod into Recovery Mode. Works 99% of the time when you can't restore.
