I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with Windows Vista Ultimate and Ubuntu 9.04.

I tried to connect my iPod touch 2nd gen with my laptop to play through my laptop speakers, and I did get it partially working on Vista. It would probably act properly with a driver installed for it. It plays through my laptop speakers, but it seems to cut out constantly, then once it actually gave my laptop a Blue Screen, but it restarted and it's all fine now.

On Ubuntu, I had a much easier time getting it paired and all, but I couldn't really figure out a way to activate it on Ubuntu though.

Can ordinary people (who know what they're doing, obviously) make a driver for the iPod touch so it functions normally, or can only Apple do that?

I'd say only apple can make drivers but ubuntu might have something already done, googleing it is probably the best bet for now

Apple should release a driver so people can use bluetooth with their iPod touch through their laptop speakers, because it's not like it's any different than using any other headset.
