I don't understand why people out of the blue want/believe that there will be a 4" iPhone. It's such a TINY difference in screen size. The resolution most likely wouldn't be changed, so the phone would be a bit wider, the DPI would drop below 300, so it couldn't be classified as retina anymore, not to mention millions of "universal" accessories that won't work for it.

It seems like a lot of stupidity for such an unnecessary upgrade. Not to mention battery life would suffer as well, since the backlight would need more power to cover a larger screen.

Just my opinion though. I like the idea of a 4" screen, but only if it's 16:9. (Which Apple will never do, as they've avoided standard resolutions for this long anyway, and already think that the iPhone is widescreen. Not to mention a large majority of App Store apps would cease to work well and/or look really ugly.)

Sorry, but that's not very good reasoning when speaking of Apple. You see, they redesign their phones, they change display resolutions, and they will do whatever they want -- the world of accessories will conform. That's just the way Apple's system works.

So yeah, it may seem unrealistic to you, but your reasoning doesn't quite have any realism to it. I'm expecting a larger iPhone from Apple this year, that's for sure.

Yeah I like the android phones with 4.7 inch screens and I've been really tempted to switch. If apple would make a 4.5 inch screen that'd be awesome.

Oh, reading what I said again I sound like a complete moron to myself... Regardless, I still have doubts that it will change.

Though, I suppose, given how it seems Apple listens to "the public demand" and updates their products (eventually) accordingly, (most likely for fear of their stock dropping hard after an "underwhelming-against-the-rumors" keynote,) they could very well have a 4" iPhone sometime soon, just because people have been wanting a larger screen for a very long time.

Yes, they could make the screen 1136x640 and 4" for all they wanted, and everything would conform extremely quickly, so my reasoning above is rather useless. Though, I still don't think Apple is one to make drastic changes like that. (One could consider going "retina" drastic, but that in turn changed nothing about the implemented devices except pixel density.) This change would effect more of the device than any other previous in a very major way, which seems un-Apple.

Don't count on that happening. Plus if they did that a lot of people would cry because they hate bigger screens and think other negative things even though I bet a majority of them never even got to use one for more that 5 minutes or even a full 24 hours.
I like the idea of the 4"+ screens though.

Steve Jobs was also the man who said how stupid the idea of having video on an iPod was, three weeks before he introduced the iPod Video to the world.

He's not a fool; he pushes what Apple has at the time, downplays any potential advantages competitors may have, and at the same time plans a response to the competitors that is (or should be) superior. It's called business, and judging that Apple is the most valuable in the world, he has done well.
