    Hey guys,
I tried to install Five Icon Dock via Rock today and Rock crashed when it downloaded the package. I opened it again and tried to install it again. It was cached and after I pressed install, my iPod froze and rebooted after few minutes. I've had that before and I could boot up with blackra1n normally.

This time I connected it to my computer, started blackra1n and pressed the "make it ra1n" button. After that, I only got "waiting for device..." and nothing ever happened.
The iPod showed up in iTunes in DFU mode but blackra1n didn't recognize it, so it wasn't a driver issue and the iPod was found.

I've tried to boot it up with blackra1n a few times but it didn't work.

Is there any way to get it started up without having to restore?

I have it closed. I'm not dumb. I opened it when blackra1n wouldn't work to check if my iPod has been discovered.

I am having a similar issue:
I have a 3rd Gen iPod with FW 3.1.2 and I shut it off today. I knew it would boot into recovery mode so I reran blackra1n. Blackra1n said that it was done correctly but my iPod won't EVER boot past recovery mode. When it is connected to my PC (Win7 x64) it reboots every 10 seconds back to recovery mode (even though it never left recovery mode in the first place).
I have tried to connect it to another PC (WinXP)that does not have iTunes installed and blackra1n just kept crashing when I tried to run the jailbreak.
    Any ideas?

Just a word to the wise, Blackra1n seems to really dislike DFU on my laptop. My suggestion is too hard reset the device, do NOT turn it on, now hold down the home button while pluggin in your device. Now let Blackra1n do its job, works everytime that DFU fails for me

I'm pretty sure having itunes up doesn't matter. Because I have mine up all the time when I run blackra1n and it runs perfectly fine.

I've also heard about restoring to a NOR file, not a IPSW. It won't erase any of your current data.

    Has anyone tried that?
