I tried to install winterboard on my new iPhone 3GS, which needs to be rebooted to complete. It turns off then shows the restore screen as expected, and so I connect it to my mac, and load blackra1n.

So after I press "make it ra1n" I get a lovely image of geohot on my screen, which stays there until it turns off, and then does not automatically reboot, so after I turn it on, naturally the restore screen comes up.

This leaves me in a loop, where I cannot boot, even though I am tethered to my mac.

    Any ideas?

This is why I'm waiting to JB my 3g touch.

    when did you get it?

it most likely has the newer bootroom, so cant be jailbroken with an untethered jailbreak.

Leave it alone for 2 minutes and it should boot...

I get the tethered-ness, but it should still turn on after the jailbreak has been run again right?

omokas: left it for about 15 minutes with a blank screen

looks like it in activity monitor. I'm going to restore - will report back results!

All seems to be going well. Haven't rebooted though yet!

Rebooted twice with success - not sure whether this is permanent though!
