I have an iPod touch 1g and am trying to jailbreak 3.0. Its all sucessful but when i install sbsettings through cydia, and then respring the screen stays black.

This is my fourth time restoring, and jailbreaking, and installing sbsettings.

The first time i installed a bunch of apps, second time i only installed openssh, and sbsettings, third time only sbsettings, and the fourth time only sbsettings.

Black screen everytime. Is there anything i can do WITHOUT restoring and doing it all over again?

If you mean the spinning wheel disappears but the respring is successful, it's a well known fact that in 3.0 there is a glitch that causes the spinning wheel to disappear during the respring. It is nothing to worry about as the respring continues successfully. It has been addressed in the 3.1 betas.

If that's not what you meant could you please explain a little bit more.

The screen is black, no spinning nothing. You turn it off by holding both buttons, then turn it back on, the logo appears. then it disappears and just black screen.

edit: it just reboots endlessly, to a black screen.

If you are in a boot loop you might have to put it into DFU mode and restore.

Ive now DFU'd and restored 5 times now. But this time, when its stuck booting up, a spinwheel shows up stops spinning, then crashes and trys to reboot.

any other ideas other then DFU restoring.. again.
