We all love a good bargain occasionally but beware, there are many fakes of the Sennheiser CX300, CX400 and CX500s out on the Internet. fakeheadphones.com has a few guides and pics to show whether that pair of IEMs you just bought might be fake.

    CX400
    CX500

Edit: I just found out that it was the CX500 link that needed a login.... Oh well. Might as well put it on here.
There are other fakes out there as well, not just these 3. There are Audio Technica ESW9 fakes, Sennheiser PX100 fakes (Apparently) and Bose In Ear headphones.

So please be careful when you are purchasing these off the Internet

Due to the fact that some users are having trouble visiting the links, I'll C/P it here.

I'm confused now... I have "fakes" (CX300s) according to these pics, but after reading the replies in the actual site that has those pics people came up with good reasons the pics aren't accurate.

    1. If the different between the fakes is cosmetic I have no problems with knowing mine is "fake".

    2. What about the packaging? I know there was differences for that too?

    3. On the official Senn website it shows a pic of how mine look with the "big" L phone jack.

    4. I don't know, I don't care, I'm glad my ears aren't that good I guess so I don't have to be picky and pay an insane amount for good quality headphones. Not to mention there aren't a lot of situations where I actually use headphones since my touch has a built-in speaker.

    1) I can definitely say that the CX300s (Genuine) have a glossy black finish. So, in my opinion, I can trust that guide.

    2) I would assume it would probably be similar to the CX500 packaging.

    3) Not sure what you mean..

    4) Lucky then, since only high end stuff satisfies me now :/

Hehe, you made my friend crap himself. But his are legit.
May I ask, is you iPod your main PMP chung? Other devices (including my iriver E10, seem to have much clearer and IMO better sound). You seem to be really into the earphones/headphones but the iPod kinda lacks (My opinion)

iPods have very good SQ and are quite underated. The iPod classic HP out is pretty decent and the iPod touch 2G has definitely one of the largest soundstage of any PMP I have EVER used. I only have the first gen, but I'm going to get a headphone amp (Nuforce icon mobile, or Vivid V1) and connect that via the LOD. So yay!

Sorry, this ain't on topic, but I think you need to make a Headphone Acronym thread Chung, I'm getting really confused with PMP, LOD, other stuff...
