This is just a warning to everyone out there to beware of 3rd party wall chargers. A few months ago, I had to get a new iPod touch because mine wouldn't turn on. It never occured to me that it was because of my friends bad wall charger. My friend's iPod just fried again the other day. This is the 3rd time this has happened to him and we just figured out why... The faulty charger was frying it. For all you iPod users out there, BEWARE OF THIRD PARTY CHARGERS. If you hear a quiet, but odd noise coming out of the charger, then STOP USING IT! I hope this helps some people from having to buy a new iPod.

    DLO has been good.

In the car, I have a Radio Shack "extension" between the 12VDC and the charger, because it saves wiggle wear on the 12VDC socket and, more importantly, the "extension" has a switch and a led.

I have it OFF when I turn the ignition key.

This little bit of thoughtfulness and care can be important.

I do not recharge on 110VAC because I would need an APC to level out the "juice" around here.

Nice idea, for a thread topic.

The third party charger I used made my iPods heat up a lot more than the computer was, so I ditched it for an Apple made one. Much better now.

That stupid China-made one (I bought it for a cheap price actually!) went into short-circuit mode and nearly killed the iPod touch that was being charged by it... I was actually going to remove it after switching off the power since the iPod was already fully charged and it could also have given me a shock!

Because of that, I dumped that thing and went for the original Apple charger instead... It's been more than 6 months now and the Apple-brand one is serving me well!
