iDrop - An iPhone/iPod Application for Dropbox The lack of an official Dropbox application for iPhone/iPod has always bugged me. The dropbox service seems perfect for a mobile device with constant internet access - so why are you forced to use the limited Dropbox iPhone site? Why can't you upload files from your iPhone? Why can't you view your update history from your iPhone? Well, now you can. After playing around with iWebKit a bit, I went ahead and created an application called iDrop. This mini-webapp is served to your device locally through the lighttpd webserver, which runs on the device itself. iDrop interfaces with dropbox, allowing you to take advantage of the Dropbox iPhone site while also giving you the ability to upload files directly from your device. If you enter your "Recent Updates" RSS feed URL, you can even track your update and revision history, all on your iPhone/iPod. There is a complicated setup, and I do not have a lot of time to devote to support. So, I will be giving out the beta to the first 6 people that send an @reply to me on Twitter. My twitter username is parm289. EDIT/Update: I will send the iDrop beta to the first 5 people that post in this thread requesting it, as well as send the beta to the first 6 users who @reply me on Twitter. iDrop will most likely be on Cydia once I simplify setup, iron out the kinks, and add new features (?).
