A friend's ipodtouch's screen cracked and he is trying to find a way to get it replaced by Bestbuy. The warranty does not cover physical damage, only internal software glitches or failures. I know that I could just load a custom .ipsw and unplug/turn off/mess it up in order to brick it, but will they do an exchange for this? Has anyone tried to do something like this? The itouch works just fine, and if bricking it permanently wouldn't get an exchange then I definitely don't want to be doing it.

Mess with the software to the point where you cant boot up anymore... take it over there and say that it stopped working just today, and i cant fix it. Also say that you are tech savy and that you tried everything.

If they say something like this... (They said something to this to my cousin... so it will probably ask)

You: My iPod is broken, it stopped working and i tried everything.
BB: Huh, it looks like it has a big crack on it... that may be the problem
You: Yea, i got a crack on it but it happened 3 months (LIE?) ago.
BB: Yea but iPods my take a while to notice that its broken, and it takes a while to shut down and all that.
You: So your saying if i broke it in half... i could still use it a bit?

Not really want to sure if it will work.

Already have a video of it working 100% while it was cracked, so we are safe on that end. I am just iffy on completely bricking it. Did your cousin get his exchanged?
