okay, I just got a 1st gen today and I have been out of the loop for a while. I need to SSH for not because I don't have wifi and I want to know what would be the best to SSH into 2.2.1 on windows. Does total commander with T-poT still work? What about iPhone browser? A link with a tutorial would be nice

Total Commander and iPhonebrowser aren't SSH. I recommend WinSCP.

Set the hostname as your iPod's IP address; username: root ; password: alpine

If you need further assistance PM me.

EDIT: I completely missed the part about you not having wifi. Disregard my post.

I use winscp via iPhone Tunnel Suite and ssh in via USB, straight forward to setup

Ok since you have no wifi, I recommend iPhone Browser. It works perfectly as an SSH client. If not, try iPhone tunnel suite.

iphone browser is not an SSH client, it communicates with the ipod via USB not a Secure Shell (aka SSH)
