    Hey Guys,

I use to install and remove all my apps, but occasionally I'll find an app I want that is not in the repos.

What is the best way to manually install/remove apps?

Right now, I access my iPod via SSH and if:

I want to install - I download the app on my computer, extract, and copy it to /Applications
I want to remove - Go to /Applications and delete the app folder

Is that the best way to do it? Does it remove all the necessary app files? Are application files stored anywhere else? Like, by this I mean, do folders/files get created elsewhere that would need to be removed?

Also, one quick question. How does the iPod touch know to add the app icon to the desktop when it is installed manually? Does it just search the /Applications folder and display a link to everything there?

Also, will the app (that was added manually) show up in the uninstall section of, or do apps only show up there if installed by
