I have a iPod touch 2G and safari simply takes up too much memory while running. Are there any other good browsers similar to safari that use less memory?

No, not really. Safari remains to be the best browser on the iPod touch/ iPhone platform.

Sorry, but it shouldn't be a big deal. Just reboot when your memory gets to low, or use SBSettings to close Safari completely when you are done with it.

It's decent but I can't play music while browsing without the iPod slowing down to a crawl

^ That's bad, try freeing up memory regularly in SBSettings.

When browsing with music I usually get 4-5 tabs open & then it'll go down to 4-5MB and then close the music app (sometimes iPod, sometimes aol radio w/ backgrounder). I used SBsettings to free up some memory & it'll go back to around 15-20MB but as soon as I open up another tab it'll go back to 5-6MB

It shouldn't be that low. When I had an iPod touch 2G, I could easily listen to music and use Safari at the same time without having my ram go that low. It's most likely something you have installed that is eating up ram.

Multifl0w is horrible. You should get rid of it. I think Weather Icon is also pretty bad. Can't tell for sure since I haven't used it since 2.2.1.
