I am planning on buying a Dell Inspiron 580 desktop with:

    2.67 GHz Quad Core i5-750
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    750GB 7200 RPM HDD
    1GB ATi Radeon HD 5450

It has a proprietary Dell 300 Watt PSU though. Dell reprentatives said I could put any ATX PSU in and it would work fine but I don't know how to uninstall and install PSUs.

What is the best graphics card I can get for a 300 Watt PSU?

I have an old 8600GT so I will put that in to replace the 5450 for now but I will need a new video card.

So far I have seen these cards with a 300 Watt PSU requirement:

Galaxy GeForce 9800GT 512mb GDDR3 low power (core is uc to 550 from 600)
    nVidia GeForce 9600GT
    ATi Radeon HD 5670
    nVidia GT 240

Which one is the best for the price and do you have other recommendations?

I was thinking the GT 240 since it has 96 cores and it only costs $70.

But I am still concerned about the PSU. The stock 5450 uses 20 wats under load and the cards I am looking for use 50-70 watts. Also my PSU doesn't have a 6 pin power connector so which one of these cards doesn't need a power connector besides the Low Power 9800GT and the 9600GT?

So, basically, you want a worse graphics card so you don't have to upgrade your power supply?

    NO!

    Everything is better than a 5450. The 5450 can't even properly run mw2 at 1280 by 1024 and i have a 1440 by 900 screen.

my 8600gt is wayyy better than the 5450 but it isn't good enough.

i want something better than an 8600gt, but still works on 300 Watts.

All of these cards seem to work but i need a recommendation on the best choice.

nVidia GeForce would be my choice. PSUs are really easy to install, just unscrew the olde one and unplug it, then screw in the new one and plug it in the same places the old one came out.

OH, in that case I would go with the 240 or the 5670.

Dayum 300 watts. I've got 700 and I sometimes wonder if it's enough lol. If it were me, I'd throw out that 300W and buy a 700W+ and a 5670 or sumthin

nah i've looked in enough places. the 5670 should work well on 300.

and it's an OEM Dell desktop. i don't know if a normal PSU i buy will even fit in there.
