    Greetings,

    I just got the 3G touch, upgrading from a 3G iPod 20gb. I'm excited. However, I commute on a motorcycle and need basic controls play/pause, volume & track;
    I used the basic apple remote (dry), or the Belkin Sportcommand (wet)

    I had seen pages selling the belkin remote as compatible with the touch, so I thought nothing of it, but it doesn't work. Now, I've checked around and one site lists that it's not compatible with the new firmware update. so... should I:

    A. try to uninstall 3.1.2 and install the 2.1 version to see if it works.
    b. wait to see if Belkin or someone posts a download that will fix it. is this even likely?

    thanks for your help

    I've mananged to figure this out. It seems to be a matter of sequence of actions, a bit of a puzzle, but it now works.
    1. Your music has to be open and ready, if it's already playing it's even better.
    2. You cannnot have the headphones plugged in when you connect the transmitter as the transmitter seems to 'override' the sound to the headphones if they're in.
    3. It will take a few seconds for the transmitter to power up, and a few button pushes from the remote to establish connection.
    4. Finally, plug in headphones and it's ready to go.
    Strange but true.

    wow, nearly a year later. But yes, I did figure it out myself. I'm now having new problems with the cold (Scotland) and the remote not working on the volume and track FF RW buttons. Only works on Play/Pause.
