Attention Please anyone trying to use a dock-based Microphone for the Ipod Touch 2G running firmware 2.2

I read on one of the posts that with 2.2 you can use dock-based Mic's like the Macally Ivoice III and Pro. I had an old Belkin Tune Talk which I plugged in and surprisingly, IT WORKED! I tried it with QuickVoice and the Gig Live! Four Track recorder app. The 3.5mm line-in also worked once I put my guitar cord thru an adapter...

However, the sound quality is mediocre and there is a slight "popping" sound every few seconds. I am trying to find a way to plug my guitar in and use it with the fourtrack apps. Surely the sound quality must be better.

Has anyone else tried it? Does the Macally Ivoice sound better? Anyone else tried the Belkin Tune Talk?

I've tried the XtremeMac Micro Memo. Quality was also poor but it was functional.
